Ohio Arts Council announces approval of 122 grants totaling $343,922
The Ohio Arts Council (OAC) board announced approval of 122 grants totaling $343,922 to support Ohio artists, arts and cultural organizations, students, educators and public arts programming at its March 20 meeting.
The grants approved at the meeting constitute the fourth funding round for state fiscal year 2024.
"The Ohio Arts Council continues to invest in our state’s arts sector to bolster the economy, enhance education and support cultural experiences in communities,” said Donna S. Collins, Executive Director, Ohio Arts Council. “On behalf of our board, we leverage our role to generate positive returns on investment and support access to the arts across Ohio.”
OAC grant funding was awarded in the following areas, with applications still open for many programs for fiscal year 2025:
Artist Programs
• Artists with Disabilities Access Program (30 grants totaling $63,068) provides funding that gives individual artists with
disabilities the resources they need to further their artistic development.
Area Artists with Disabilities Access Program grant recipients include: Brenda Arledge (Fayette County), $2,500.
Project Support
• Capacity Building (23 grants totaling $64,400) supports organizations’ efforts to engage outside expertise to improve business practices or add new knowledge and skills that forward organizations’ missions.
• ArtsRISE (22 grants totaling $105,000) is designed to support organizations working to expand access to their activities to more diverse participants.
• Fund Every County (27 grants totaling $104,007) is an OAC initiative to ensure its funding is at work and investments are made in all 88 counties to the benefit of more Ohioans.
Area Fund Every County grant recipients include: Village of Greenfield, $5,000; Appalachian Artisans Guild (Hillsboro), $3,000; Brown County Public Library, $2,839; Chatfield Edge (Brown County), $2,500; Jasper Elementary School/Scioto Valley Local Schools (Pike County), $4,997; and Garnet A. Wilson Public Library of Pike County, $2,100.
Arts Learning
• Big Yellow School Bus (20 grants totaling $7,447) helps schools and other educational groups defray student transportation costs to professional arts and diverse cultural activities.
