OAR to offer GRI 100, 200 & 300 programs
The Ohio Association of REALTORS will offer its Graduate, REALTOR Institute (GRI) 100, 200 and 300 programs Oct. 11-14, Oct. 25-28 and Nov. 15-18,
respectively, at the Ohio Association of REALTORS, 200 East Town St., Columbus.
OAR’s GRI 100, 200 and 300 programs are open to all real estate licensees and serve as a specialized program for transition into the upper level
designation programs of the National Association of REALTORS. Members wishing to obtain the GRI designation are required to take GRI 100, 200 and
300 and be a member of a Local Board/Association of REALTORS. There are no prior licensing requirements to be eligible for the GRI program, however,
only REALTORS can obtain the designation. All GRI courses can be taken in any sequence.
Each of the GRI 100, GRI 200 and GRI 300 programs has been certified for 30 hours of continuing education credit. GRI 100 includes core law, civil
rights and ethics credit. GRI 300 includes core law credit.
General topic areas for GRI 100 are residential construction; fair housing/risk reduction; environmental issues; completing the transaction;
anti-trust/risk reduction; sales and marketing strategies; agency; technology and ethics. Included in GRI 200 are financing; the secondary
mortgage market; negotiating; investment real estate; technology; and commercial and industrial brokerage. (A simple four function calculator is
required for GRI 200.) Included in GRI 300 are real estate taxation and the economy; advanced appraising; contract law and legal issues; brokerage
management; organizational management and strategic planning; financial and marketing management; and future trends.
Instructors featured in GRI 100 will be Daphne Hawk, ABR, CRS, GRI, Keller Williams, Pickerington; and Louise Potter, GRI, Prudential Calhoon,
Hilliard.
Instructors for GRI 200 will include Greg Hrabcak, CCIM, Real Living, Columbus; and Kevin Stahle, e-Pro, GRI, McGuinness GMAC Real Estate,
Colorado Springs, Colo.
Peg Ritenour, OAR vice president of legal services; Drexanne Evers and David Deverman, CRS, GRI, broker of Deverman Realty, Wyoming, Mich., will instruct
the GRI 300 course.
