Lead Summary

Gretchen Huffman-
The December meeting of the Hillsboro Woman’s Club was special, from the beginning, on through the mouthwatering catered luncheon by Shoelaces Catering, to the finale of a musical program by one of the club’s talented members.

Eleanor Williams, who has played the piano for more than 50 years, had chosen a medley of holiday songs, which included three favorites. First was “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” followed by “The First Noel.” Williams touched the hearts of her listeners by closing with “Silent Night.”

Mary Todd Hardeman provided a clever “fill in the blanks” game, using a familiar Christmas song. It had something to do with a jolly old man coming down the chimney.

Each member present was given a homemade delicacy by member Teresa Cudkowicz.

Helen Ford presided over the business meeting. She thanked members for bringing gifts of new toys for the Toys for Tots campaign. The secretary’s report by Gretchen Huffman, was approved, and treasurer Betty Ann Walker reported a healthy balance in the club’s coffers.

Following a winter hiatus, the club will meet again March 13 with arrangements to be made by Rosemary Ryan, Virginia Purdy and Deirdre Garringer.
