Hillsboro Garden Club holds July meeting

The July 2026 meeting of the Hillsboro Garden Club was called to order by President Lynn Luman after the members enjoyed a potluck dinner. Many tasty dishes to share.
The roll call question was "what is your most bothersome weed?" Everyone had a different contender, some of which I've never heard of before.
Seventeen members and two guests were present.
The tip of the month was "all gardeners know better than other gardeners."
Ruth Anna Duff gave her treasurer's report which was accepted.
Andrea Schneider presented the horticultural exhibit – a pineapple lily.
In Old Business, there were no updates on the proposed flower show for next year.
In New Business, several nominees for the 2026 landscaping awards were presented. After discussion, the subject was tabled and members were asked to submit photos of gardens for consideration.
There was also discussion on the club participating in the Christmas parade.
The sign up sheet for "guard duty" during the county fair was passed around. Members will be in Floral Hall during the fair to answer any questions visitors may have.
There was also a report on the club's visit to Susan Hunt's beautiful gardens earlier in the month. Members were very impressed with all the work that has gone into the gardens and are thankful to have been able to tour it.
The meeting was then adjourned. All gardeners are welcome to join us on Aug. 25 at 6:30 p.m. as we prepare Floral Hall for the upcoming fair.
