Hillsboro First United Methodist announces fall Sunday School program

With fall comes the start of school for kids and teenagers alike. At Hillsboro First United Methodist Church, fall also brings a new start to Sunday School. Children in grades PreK-12 have the opportunity to join in the learning of God’s love through an exciting, Bible-based curriculum and fellowship with other children.
This fall, through the help of the HFUMC Sunday School team and a host of volunteers from the congregation, all of the Children’s Sunday School rooms have been completely transformed. Through a simple use of paint and wall décor the rooms have each been given a “theme” to make the rooms more kid friendly. The room “themes” include the “Farm” room, the “Under the Sea” room and the “Jungle” room. These brand-new rooms are sure to give children a warm and welcoming environment.
In addition to the kid-friendly transformation of Sunday School rooms teachers will also be using the David C. Cook “Bible-in-Life” curriculum which provides a firm foundation in Biblical teaching in a fun, creative and hands-on-approach to learning. This new approach to teaching Sunday school will ensure all children are given the opportunity to learn through a Bible-based curriculum.
“It was time for use to transform Sunday school,” said Jarrod Weiss, Discipleship Coordinator for Hillsboro First. “It is our goal to make Disciples of Christ and we want the children of our Church and of Hillsboro to have a fun, exciting, and Biblical-based learning environment for Sunday School. With the transformation of the rooms and the renewed emphasis on Sunday School we think we are equipping the children with the tools they need to be Disciples.”
The Kick-Off to Fall Sunday School starts on September 18th. All Sunday School classes start at 10am. There are classes available for grades PreK-1, 2-3, 4-5, Middle School (6-8), and High School (9-12). There are also Sunday school classes for adults during the 10 o’clock hour.
In addition, Hillsboro First UMC offers members of the community a Traditional Worship service at 9:00am as well as The Back Porch, a Contemporary Worship service at 11:00am. In addition, HFUMC provides opportunities for youth ages 6-12 through the Youth group that meets on Sunday nights and has many opportunities available to adults through Sunday School and Small Groups.
