Hillsboro Emblem Club members met on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010 at 7 pm at the Hillsboro Elks Lodge.  Eleven members were present.  Thank you cards were read from various organizations.  One hundred bookmarks with the "No Child Left Behind" logo were ordered and received from the Education Publications Center and will be given to local school children.  The club also ordered 50 booklets for parents of preschoolers on getting their children ready to read.  They will be given to the Highland County Head Start.
A donation was given to the Highland Co. Humane Society in memory of past member Norma Boone and to the Highland County Children's Services for their yearly expense fund.   The Ohio State Association meeting, which was scheduled for Jan. 9 and 10 in Wooster was postponed until Jan. 23 and 24.  Sixty-five food and personal items were collected to send to a local serviceman who is serving our Country overseas.  The next meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 7 pm.  Members continue to serve refreshments at Bingo on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. at the Hillsboro Elks Lodge.
