Highland House to offer free seminar on fighting the 'winter blues'

The switch to the winter season comes with shorter days and less sunlight. For some, these changes can lead to the “winter blues” with symptoms such as less socializing, altered sleep patterns and depression. Highland House, a senior living community by Assisted Living Concepts, Inc., will host a free seminar on how to fight the winter blues presented by Vickie S. Gaines, Activities Director, at the Edith Brown Pavilion at Highland District Hospital on Monday, Jan. 28 at 3 p.m.
You don’t need to be a senior citizen to be depressed during the holidays or anytime during the year. Winter is more difficult for seniors due to loss of loved ones and family dynamic changes. Refreshments will be served and Highland House staff will be on hand for tours of the residence and to answer any questions.
Highland House, located near the intersection of Harry Sauner Road and U.S. 62, promotes independence and individuality while providing seniors with extra assistance in their daily routine. Residents enjoy the freedom and advantages of living independently in an environment surrounded by friends and a caring staff. Highland House is located at 251 Harry Sauner Road, Hillsboro.
