Highland County Homeless Shelter gives back to Operation Christmas Child

In the season of giving, the Highland County Homeless Shelter clients have selected Operation Christmas Child for a third year in a row as part of the shelter’s way of giving back to those in need.

Operation Christmas Child allows clients the opportunity to give back during the holiday season. The project continues to be a success, as the Homeless Shelter filled 50 shoeboxes to capacity. The filled boxes were dropped off at the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church to be distributed among children less fortunate.

No funding from the shelter is used for this project. This project is made possible through the kind donations of Amatha Farrens, State Farm Insurance; TouchPoint Pentecostals (Sonja Worley); and shelter staff. 

Executive Director Greg Hawkins thanks these donors and the community for supporting the Highland County Homeless Shelter and allowing the shelter the opportunity to continue to serve Highland County.
