Highland County 4-Hers earn top honors at Ohio State Fair dog show

Several Highland County teens brought home top honors after competing in 4-H dog competitions at the 2011 Ohio State Fair. Those who competed included: Leah Bauer, Michaela Chaney, Elizabeth House, Marissa Humphries, Meredith Oglesby, Kalie Scott, Makenzie Scott and Kristen Waits, members of the Canine Commanders 4-H Club. Taylor Carter of the Canine Troopers 4-H Club also competed.
Chaney, Humphries, Makenzie Scott and Waits competed together in the sub-novice team category, where they placed first. Carter, Chaney, House and Waits competed together in the advanced team category and placed third. Carter, Chaney, House, Oglesby, Kalie Scott, Makenzie Scott and Waits competed in the drill team competition and earned a first place award.
Competing in individual competitions, the girls also were very successful. Bauer placed 5th in the skillathon for the 9-year-old division.
Oglesby earned a gold medal in Rally Novice B with her dog, Becca.
Chaney placed 14th in Novice B, earned a silver medal in pet pals and earned a bronze medal in Advanced Rally B with Dazzle. She earned a gold medal in Novice Rally B and 8th in sub novice B with her dog, Becca. She placed 7th with her poster. She earned her third Champion Dog Exhibitor Award.
House placed 8th in Grad Novice B with her dog, Noah. She earned her first Champion Dog Exhibitor Award.
Kalie Scott earned a silver award in pet pals, Outstanding of the Day in showmanship Int. B and Sub Novice B with her dog, Taj. She also placed second with her poster.
Makenzie Scott placed 13th in Junior Showmanship B. She earned a silver medal in Rally Novice B with her dog, Lucy.
Waits placed 11th in Novice B obedience and won a silver medal in pet pals with her dog KC. She earned an Outstanding of the Day award in Sub Novice B with her dog, Autumn. She earned her fourth Ohio State Fair Dog Show Championship title.
Humphries placed first in the skillathon in the 13-year-old division. She placed 10th in the Int. Showmanship B, earned a gold medal in Rally Novice B, a gold medal in pet pals, 10th in Sub Novice B, and was Outstanding of the Day in the You and Your Dog show with her dog, Keyna.
