Fifth Third Bank to debut eBus II at Highland County Fair

Fifth Third Bank of Central Ohio will debut Fifth Third’s eBus II, its second mobile classroom on wheels, at the Highland County Fair on Sept. 8 from 2-8 p.m. and on Sept. 9 from noon to 4 p.m. at 604 John Street.
eBus II, also known as the Fifth Third Financial Empowerment Mobile II, is the evolution and advancement of Fifth Third’s innovative solution to meet the financial needs of underserved populations.
These 40-foot retrofitted city buses are equipped with computer workstations, which take banking services directly to the community.
The first eBus, formerly known as the Homeownership Mobile to reflect its original mission, has visited over 150 cities since its launch in 2004. Its popularity and success dictated the need for an additional bus to achieve deeper penetration in low- and moderate-income communities and high minority neighborhoods. Community needs also led to an expansion of the program’s mission—to provide more personalized financial counseling and open more access to traditional banking services to help people achieve their dreams. The buses now operate as Fifth Third Empowerment Mobiles.
“Fifth Third Bank’s eBuses are a major investment in our communities. We are in the business of helping people achieve their goals in life and our eBuses enable us to talk with them in an informal setting and help them with their personal situation,” said Stefanie Steward-Young, VP, Community Affairs. “Our goal is to help educate people about personal finance—whether that’s educating them on how to emerge from debt, begin a savings plan or responsibly achieve homeownership.”
