Donation made to Farmers and Hunters Feeding Hunger

The Highland County Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited recently donated money to the farmers and hunters feeding hunger program to pay processing for donated deer.
Once processed, the deer meat will be distributed to local food pantries.
The money will also get matching, dollar for dollar grant from the Ohio Division of Wildlife. This money will be used during deer hunting seasons.
The cooperation of both farming and wildlife organizations to control the deer population and to use the resources wisely is a great show of local conservation effort.
By controlling the deer numbers to reduce crop damage, lessen vehicle collisions and also keeping a health deer herd to hunt is the goals of these organizations.
The program’s mission is to transform deer – renewable God-given resources – into food for the hungry. Each deer will feed an average of 200 people.
