'Dining with diabetes' classes to be offered

The Ohio State University Extension, Highland County Office and the Highland District Hospital will be offering a 'dining with diabetes class' series, Oct. 6, 13 and 20 from 6-8 p.m.
The classes will be held at the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene Annex, located at 8230 U.S. Route 50, Hillsboro.
Classes are open to people with diabetes, their family members or caretakers, or those with pre-diabetes. The registration cost for the classes will be $15 per individual or $20 per couple. Participants are encouraged to attend all three classes.
Classes will provide nutrition education to assist you with diabetes management and will include cooking demonstrations on how to prepare foods using less fat, salt and sugar without cutting taste. Participants will have the opportunity to taste a variety of foods and receive a packet of recipes for main dishes, side dishes and desserts.
Instructors for the classes will be: Ashley Bolender, registered dietitian; Joy Gallimore, certified diabetes educator; Lisa Cannon, registered nurse from Highland District Hospital; and Kathy Jelley, extension educator for Family and Consumer Sciences with Ohio State University Extension, Highland County.
