Cowan Lake Association of Sportsmen (CLASS) will host a home-study hunter safety course at their clubhouse, 331 Beechwood Rd. (off Route 350), Wilmington. It will take place on Thursday, March 8 at 6 p.m.
Completion of a hunter safety course is required for all first-time hunting license buyers in Ohio, except those purchasing an apprentice hunting license. The instructors are trained by the Ohio Division of Wildlife.
The course is free and open to the public. To register, participants can call 1-800-WILDLIFE during office hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pre-registration is required. Participants registering for a home-study course will be given study information.
The home-study course can be completed in four hours and allows students the opportunity to take a full class in one short session. Ohio also offers an instructor-led course, with materials given out during the classes. CLASS will offer one full 10-hour, instructor-led course in April and two in October and November.[[In-content Ad]]
