Christmas Home Tour in Georgetown set for Dec. 3

The Christmas Home Tour, sponsored by the U.S. Grant Homestead Association, will be held on Sunday, Dec. 3 from noon to 5 p.m.
The tour begins at the U.S. Grant Boyhood Home, 219 East Grant Avenue, Georgetown, where you can buy tickets and pick up a brochure. Tickets are $10 and are also available at Donohoo’s Pharmacy on the west side of the Courthouse Square or by phone at 937-378-3087.
All ticket purchasers will be entered in a drawing for a special John Ruthven-Thompson House Basket with a retail value of over $125. You do not have to be present to win.

This year's tour includes:
• Both the Klosterman-Thompson Home and the Klosterman's Tunnel Mill on SR 221.
• Home Street Haven at 442 Home Street.
• The H.C. Loudon Home, 431 North Main Street.
• The restored U.S. Grant Homestead at 219 East Grant Avenue.
Also featured on the tour is the 1826 home of Col. David Ammen at 115 South Apple Street. Col. Ammen, a veteran of the War of 1812, was the father of General Jacob Ammen and Rear Admiral Daniel Ammen, a lifelong friend of Ulysses S. Grant. Mike Fadeley purchased the property in 2005, and you're invited to see the interior restoration work Fadeley has completed and the beautiful stone wall and garden area he has built in the rear of his home. His extensive collection of farm sets and other toys will also be on display.
