The staff here at the Leesburg Library would like to thank all the kids, teens and adults who participated in our summer reading program Make a Splash @ Your Library. We had more than 350 participants this year and hope that all who joined us for the various programs and great books had as much fun as we did. We want to thank the following program presenters for their time and talents:  Frank McGarvey-storyteller, Ronald McDonald, the Hillsboro YMCA, Kathy Garza-Behr from Ohio Dept. of Natural Resources, Boonie the Magician, The Reading Rocks Band (Keith Aukeman, Vince Smith, & Luke Anderson), and Vince Howard & Eric Davenport and the snakes. I'm sure anyone who attended our programs this summer had a thoroughly enjoyable time. There will be no story times for Wee Ones and Tater Tots during the month of August.  Our story times will resume on Thursday, Sept. 16.  We hope to see new faces as well as old friends on that date.  Please call us for more information regarding our story time program.

Our teen reading group, SPARX, will be meeting on Thursday, August 12 from 5:30-7 p.m.  We will be discussing "Everwild" by Neal Shusterman.  We welcome new members, so if you are a Leesburg teen 13 years and older, please join us for a fun evening. Pizza will be served. All patrons are invited to an Investing 101 class presented by Virginia Purdy on Monday, Aug. 16 from 6-7 p.m.  Learn the basics of investing your money wisely.

Dawna Jo Kiesling from the Highland County Extension Office will join us on Thursday, August 19 from 10-12 and Monday, Aug.t 23 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Come and talk with Dawna about summer nutrition tips and recipes. Our adult book discussion group, RRR meets on Thursday, Aug.19 at 1:30 p.m. Book titles this month include Black Hills by Nora Roberts and Tethered by Amy McKinon.

We want to remind all students heading back to school this month that we are here to assist them with all their research and reference needs.  Please stop in or call us, or you can visit us online at www.highlandco.org. We hope you will enjoy the remainder of your summer days with great books from the Leesburg Library!  Let us know if there is any way we can be of service to you during the month of August.  We look forward to seeing you soon.
