By
Leesburg Branch Library-
We continue to "Make a Splash" with our summer reading program here at the Leesburg Library. We have a record number of summer readers of all ages, and we encourage all of you to keep reading and winning those prizes! Our programs have been fun, informative and well-attended, and we have more programming in July to tell you about. So let's get started!
July begins with an encore performance of the "Reading Rocks! Band," featuring Keith Aukeman. They will perform beach tunes that we all know and enjoy, so come and catch a wave and catch the beat on Thursday, July 1 at 10:30 am.
Adult summer readers can sign up for a special drawing for (4) Reds vs. Nationals baseball tickets for the July 21 game in Cincinnati. The contest runs from July 1-10. The more you read, the better chance you have of winning one of the two sets of tickets!
Our Knit Together group continues to meet every Thursday from 5:30-7 p.m. New knitters are always welcome.
The Leesburg Library will be closed on Monday, July 5 for the Independence Day holiday. Please feel free to use the outdoor book drop to return items.
On Thursday, July 8 we are being invaded by Creatures from the Black Lagoon! Join us for a live reptile, amphibian and insect show anytime from 5-7 p.m. Patrons can browse the displays and participate in hands-on learning experiences.
On Thursday, July 15 our favorite state park educator will be here @ 10:30 a.m. to show and tell us about Ohio Aquatic Bugs and Stream Life.
Our adult book group, RRR will meet on Thursday, July 15 to discuss Reader's Choice or Lost Girls by George Shuman. They will also celebrate birthdays, so bring a $5-7 gift to exchange.
Dawna Jo Kiesling from the Highland County Extension Office will be here on Monday, July 19 from 12:30-2:30 and on Thursday, July 22 from 10-12 to share nutrition tips and healthy recipes for the summer.
Our final kids' program for the summer is Splish Splash! Grand Finale with Snoopy on Thursday, July 22 at 10:30 a.m. Come hang out with Snoopy as well as have some food, fun & games with us as we close out our summer reading program.
SPARX, our Teen book group, meets on Thursday, July 22 for a Gilligan's Island Beach Party from 5:30-7 p.m. Dress up as a character from this fun show and join us for island food, fun and games. All Leesburg area teens in grades 7-12 are invited.
The last day for our summer reading program for all patrons is Wednesday, July 28. All kids' reading logs must be turned in and teen and adult drawing slips completed by this date.
Our combined story times continue for our Wee Ones and Tater Tots at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 1, 8 and 15. There will be no story time on Thursday, July 22. We will have our final story time for the summer on Thursday, July 29 at 10 a.m. for Wee Ones and 10:30 a.m. for Tater Tots.
We are enjoying making waves with our patrons this summer. We hope you will stop by and visit with us soon!
