Tom Seay of The Best Of America By Horseback (BOABH) TV program on The RFD Television Network will be taping two Christmas shows at The Paxton Theatre, Nov. 4 and 5, honoring the U.S. military and veterans.
The footage will be used for episodes of their award-winning “Best Of America By Horseback” television series and other programing during the upcoming Christmas holiday season.
Tom Seay is a great American who has spent the better part of his life giving back and celebrating our great country and those who protect and defend us. Co-producer Kristen Biscoe and the BOABH production team are putting together two great shows to entertain the community, celebrate the military and veterans and to recognize those who have made significant contributions to the freedoms we live every day.

The schedule for the episode tapings is as follows:
• Thursday, Nov. 2: The BOABH Production team will arrive. They are camping at Tanglewood Acres, riding and filming a TV episode at Pike State Forest.
• Friday, Nov. 3: The crew will visit the Chillicothe VA, followed by rehearsal and interviews.
• Saturday, Nov. 4: A parade in the Village of Bainbridge honoring the military will begin at 2 p.m., followed by carriage rides and activities under the big tent on Maple Street at 3 p.m. A reception by invitation will start at 5 p.m. at The Bainbridge Senior Center. Doors open at 6 p.m. at The Paxton, and curtains open at 7 p.m. for showtime.
• Sunday, Nov. 5: Carriage rides and activities under the big tent on Maple Street will begin again at noon. Doors open at The Paxton at 1 p.m., with the show starting at 2 p.m.
Larry “The Flagman” Eckhardt will be honored on the show and is bringing 1,000 9’ flags to line the parade route.
Any equestrian unit, riding club, horse-drawn float or veterans support group that would like to participate in the parade Saturday may register online at paxtontheatre.org on the Best of America By Horseback page.
The theatre is seeking donations to sponsor veterans and special honorees at the shows, in the parade and other activities. The Paxton Theatre Foundation is focused on four areas of performing arts education; Live Theatre, Speaker Series, Live and Local Concerts and The Paint Valley Jamboree.
Now in its 53rd season, the Paint Valley Jamboree, presented by The Rockhold, Brown & Company Bank, continues to grow and looks to be a staple at the Paxton for years to come. The fall lineup includes both veteran and new performers and will continue to bring the best of live country music entertainment to the region. The Jamboree enjoys the distinction of being the longest-running country music show in the state of Ohio.
The Jamboree Sings competition in the spring each year provides a unique educational opportunity for aspiring singers and musicians to work live with a professional band on a stage that hosted the likes of Loretta Lynn and Waylon Jennings.
The Live and Local Series, presented by WVNU Radio 97.5 FM, is off to a great start in its inaugural yea,r bringing the best of other venues including bluegrass, rock & R&B to The Paxton. McGuffey Lane, Phil Dirt and The Dozers, Terry Lee and His Rockaboogie Band, Joe Mullins, 7 Mile Bluegrass and The Kenny Valentine Band highlight the Live and Local Series.
The theatre’s Speaker Series supports its key objective of bringing community-based educational programs to the region. Many thanks to The Arc Of Appalachia for holding their wildflower and firefly presentations at The Paxton. Each were world-class educational presentations supported by activities in the field with teaching points relative to our unique environment.
The Paxton Theatre Foundation Children’s Summer Theatre Camp and production of “Shrek The Musical Jr.” was a success beyond measure. Driving forces behind this wonderful endeavor are directors Jeff and Jenna Horick. The Horicks, both Hillsboro educators, selflessly dedicate the majority of their summer vacation to make this theatre camp and production available for area youth.
This year, 47 children from five surrounding counties carried out 54 stage and support roles at the theatre camp and/or in the production of “Shrek The Musical Jr.”
Bainbridge mural artist Pam Kellough painted an exquisite mural across the back wall of the stage to bring Shrek’s forest to life inside the Paxton. The painting is styled after southern Ohio’s native temperate deciduous forest and will remain on the wall to serve as a backdrop for varied events for years to come.
Twenty-six additional community members stepped in to help with the production in various ways, including: set building, music, costuming, choreography, lighting, sound, ticketing, promotion, concessions and more. It truly takes a village to make the summer youth theatre program a success, and the village responded.
As arts programs continue to lose footing in school systems across the country, community programs like this one, and the dedicated volunteers who make them happen, are more important than ever.
The Paxton Youth Theatre production of Dreamwork’s Shrek the Musical Jr. was sponsored in part by Ohio Asphaltic Limestone Company, Kirk Law Offices, Bainbridge Dairy Queen, Paint Valley Hardware, Batter Up Bakery, Rockhold Brown & Co. Bank, Dr. Larry Dukes and Anna’s Army.
The theatre also recognizes Paxton Theatre Foundation Board members David Scott, facilities director for Ohio University-Chillicothe; Bob Brown, theatre major, producer and director; and Stephanie McDonald, secretary for the foundation board. Thank you for your hard work and support.
