AAA7 and Shawnee State OT Program to present 'Spring Into Healthy Aging' livestream
The Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) and the Shawnee State University Occupational Therapy (OT) Program are once again joining together to provide education to the community through a Facebook livestream series, “Spring Into Healthy Aging.”
Historically, the two organizations have worked together to provide falls prevention education to the community through the AAA7’s “Matter of Balance” falls prevention program. During the pandemic and continuing for many years after, a virtual version of the education was created through the “Fall-Free Fridays” platform to give students the opportunity to meet their class requirement to provide community education and expand reach. This Spring, students are taking that same platform and focusing on the “Spring theme” and covering topics such as falls prevention, home safety, energy conservation, fatigue management, social connection, sleep, medication management, technology, caregiver strategies, and how occupational therapy is beneficial throughout the aging process.
Starting on Wednesday, March 11th at 9:30 am, the AAA7 will feature “Spring Into Healthy Aging” on the Agency’s Facebook page. The Shawnee State OT students will prepare the presentation and provide education on the topics mentioned beforehand. The series will be featured for six weeks.
