Beloved wife, mother and friend, Sandy Shanks, 79, passed away March 6, 2026 in Leesburg, Fla. after a short illness.

Born Sandra Lee Pleasant on Dec. 28, 1946 in Chillicothe, she was the only child of the late Kenneth and Alta (White) Pleasant.

She graduated from McClain High School in 1964 and Columbus Business University in 1965.

Sandy loved Diet Coke, dogs, country music, craft shows, making quilts, her camping club and spending winters in Florida. Always generous, she never hesitated to lend a hand to a neighbor in need. Special occasions often meant greeting cards, and she cherished the cards she received – keeping many of them for decades. Throughout her life, Sandy sent messages of happiness, holiday cheer, and condolences to family, friends and acquaintances.

She had a head for numbers and worked in accounting her entire career. Sandy retired from Weastec, Inc. after 20 years of dedicated service as an accounting supervisor.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 50 years, Curt; her son, Eric (Allyson Crawford); loyal pet Molly; special cousin, Joyce Price of St. Augustine, Florida; and many friends. She will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 12 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro, when a funeral service will begin. Chaplin Jeff Davis and the Rev. John Fitzgerald will officiate. Burial at the HighTop Cemetery will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Highland County Humane Society at P.O. Box 471, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133 or online at www.highlandhumanesociety.org.
