Sandra “Sandy” L. Wiget, 87, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022.
She was born Oct. 16, 1934 in Middletown, the daughter of the late John L. Janes and Esther J. Schuer Janes.
She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church of Wilmington, where she had directed the choir for over 60 years, along with holding various other positions serving the church. She had been a past member of the Wilmington Music Club and the Clintonaires singing group. She loved spending time with her family and many friends and especially loved to stay busy.
She had worked in the family businesses of the New Antioch Feed Mill and the family restaurant. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service and then became a licensed real estate agent in Clinton County. She operated a food concession business at the local festivals and county fairs, and she continued working in the office of Peele, Lundy & Clifton Realtors and at Edgington Funeral Home well into her final year.
Surviving are her daughter, Julie (Mary) Wiget; son, John (Colleen) Wiget; son-in-law, Stephen Cody; grandchildren, Brian A. (Alissa) Cody, Joshua (Kristen) Wiget and Jessica (Levi) Studer; and great-grandchildren, Alisson, Joseph and Colten Cody, Warren Studer and Ellie Wiget.
In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, C. Wayne Wiget; son, David Wiget; daughter, Lynn Cody; and an infant granddaughter, Rebecca Cook.
Services will be held Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022 at 5 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Wilmington.
Friends will be received Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022 from 2-5 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Wilmington.
