Randall William “Randy” Roush
Randall William “Randy” Roush, 73, of Lynchburg, passed away Monday, July 28, 2025 at the Hospice of Dayton.
He was born on Feb. 2, 1952, in Hillsboro, the son of the late George William and June Daye Roush.
Randy had a lifelong dedication to education and agriculture. He was a devoted Vocational Agriculture schoolteacher for 33 years, impacting the lives of countless students. He spent his first four years teaching in Arcanum Schools, the next 26 years of his career at Whiteoak High School in Mowrystown, and three years post-retirement years co-teaching in Hillsboro City Schools.
In addition to the classroom, he served as Junior Fair Board member, Camp Muskingum counselor, Young Farmer's advisor, and a couple seasons as WHS girls' basketball coach. Randy’s passion for agriculture extended beyond the classroom, and he remained actively involved in the community after retirement, working for the Highland District Hospital, Kroger Company Gas Station, and recently, Rick’s Appliance Store, all in Hillsboro.
A proud graduate of Lynchburg-Clay High School in 1970, Randy continued his love for sports and education by playing basketball while attending Union College for two years. He then transferred and earned his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science from the University of Kentucky in 1974. Randy enjoyed cheering on his UK Wildcats and Cincinnati Bengals, as well as playing golf, men's softball, hosting friends aboard his boat on Rocky Fork, and attending hundreds of live concerts.
In addition, he relished completing woodworking projects and supporting his grandkids' sports and fine arts endeavors. Randy’s family was the cornerstone of his life.
He married Charlene Gossett on Sept. 1, 1971, and together they raised their daughter, April Roush of Cincinnati. Randy was also a proud grandfather to Gavin and Mallory Harsha.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene; daughter, April; grandchildren, Gavin and Mallory; his sister, Jenny (Tim) Penn of Hillsboro; and many nieces and nephews.
A service of celebration and remembrance will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16 at the Lynchburg-Clay Middle School gymnasium. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the school cafeteria, where light refreshments will be provided.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mowrystown FFA, P.O. Box 297, Mowrystown, Ohio 45155, or to Ohio’s Hospice, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45420.

Charlene, April Jenny Tim and family : Words never can express what we really would like to say. Pulliums and Roushes spent hours together and both families followed the Education trail to the very end with humor galore. Bless you Randy and save us a room in that mansion so we can all be together once again. Now you have answers to all of the questions about heaven. Love to all from Skip and Kristen.
