Philip Jerome “Jerry” Ries, 80, passed away Oct. 3, 2022 at his home in Hillsboro.
Jerry was born June 22, 1942 in Cincinnati to Philip A. Ries and Dorothy M. “Dot” (Feith) Ries.
Jerry graduated from Indian Hill High School in 1960. He attended the University of Cincinnati and Southern State Community College. Jerry had numerous jobs during his lifetime. He worked for his parents at their hardware stores in Blue Ash. He sold Modern Woodmen Insurance in Hillsboro. He was also an associate at Weastec, Inc. Even after retiring from there, he worked part-time at Airborne.
He was a Master Gardener/Clinton County and loved flowers. He helped show dogs at dog shows. His favorites were bulldogs. He was a member of the Wilmington Lodge F & AM #52 and was a member of the Highland County Senior Citizens. He was a member of Good News Gathering in Hillsboro and God was with him. Jerry was a big man with a big heart and a bigger-than-life bio. He had a great sense of humor and joy for this world.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly M. (Ball) Ries, whom he married May 15, 2009; his brother, Steve (Jamie) Ries; his sister, Dr. Penny (Steve Carsey) Ries; a son, Greg (Dee) Ries; a daughter, Becky (Curt) Brewer; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews who will miss him greatly; and many dear friends and coworkers. All were loved by Jerry.
He was predeceased by his parents; one granddaughter; and an unborn great-grandchild.
There will be a celebration of Jerry’s life Monday, Oct. 17, 2022 at 1 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m.
