Linda M. Smith
Linda M. Smith, 77, of Sardinia, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born June 27, 1947, in Sadieville, Ky., the daughter of the late George Morrison and Orba (Ianis) Morrison.
Linda was a 1965 graduate of Holmes High School in Kentucky, and she earned her bachelor’s degree from Wilmington College in 1994. She was a member of the Pricetown Church of Christ and a member of the Hallmark group at the Pricetown Church. Linda found great joy in the art of quilting, and she never missed her annual trip in northern Ohio to the Cathy and Karens Quilting Retreat. Her talent for creating beautiful, handcrafted pieces was matched only by the love and detail she sewed into every stitch. Linda's quilts were not just works of art but a tangible display of her love and care, kept as treasured pieces by those fortunate enough to receive them. Family was the cornerstone of Linda's life. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved husband, Bruce, and their many shared travels formed an inseparable bond between them. Her greatest delight was her role as a grandmother. Each moment spent with her grandchildren was cherished, and she left them with a legacy of love and life lessons.
Linda is survived by her husband of 36 years, Bruce Smith, whom she married on Feb. 16, 1989; three children, Daniel (Regina) Croy of Sardinia, Tina (Tony) Rowley of Danville and Tonya Croy of Lynchburg; eight grandchildren, Felicia (Geoff) Underwood, Sarah (Dustin Lewis) Chisman, Corey (Brooke) Ballein, Blake (Cailee) Croy, Austin Chisman, Amanda (Molly) Ballein, Haven (Trevon) Hicks and Johnathan Croy; 11 great-grandchildren, Maleah, Cameron, Grayson, Anikyn, Carlee, Dallas, Makenzie, Justin, Makailah, Renesmay and Parker; two siblings, Thelma Jacobs of Georgia and Judy Frederick of Florida; special friends, Tammy and Fred Wardlow; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John Croy; a grandson, David Ballein; and seven siblings, John Morrison, Sarah Frances Shorter, Joan Moore, Don Morrison, Tom Morrison, Robert Morrison and Ann Hughes.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24 at the Pricetown Church of Christ. Funeral services will take place following visitation at 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
