Kathleen Slater Bowling

Kathleen Slater Bowling, 88, of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, at Court House Manor in Washington C.H.

She was born Feb. 14, 1938 in Fayette County, the daughter of Charles Milton and Elva Mae (Belles) Binegar.

She was a 1956 graduate of Bainbridge High School. Kathleen lived all over, including Florida and Kentucky, but her home was in Ohio, where her life began and ended. 

She was a devoted housewife and mother, and took tremendous care of her second home, Sunnyside Chapel in Humboldt, while maintaining her duties to her loving husband and daughter. She previously traveled and performed as part of the Binegar Trio with her two sisters. Playing the piano was second nature to her and, just like her mother, she could quote the Bible as well as any preacher. But she didn't just read the scriptures, she lived and abided by God's word. She was sure in her ways, but also as kind and gentle a person you would ever meet.

She is survived by her only grandson, Evan Cooper (Dasmine Wright) of Reynoldsburg; her only great-grandson, Caius Cooper of Reynoldsburg; one brother, Dave (Charlene) Binegar of Bainbridge; two sisters-in-law, Gloria Binegar of Greenfield and Saundra Binegar of Tucson, Ariz.; many nieces and nephews; and her loving cat, Izzy.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul “Bud” Slater on June 19, 1991; second husband, J.T. Bowling on June 1, 2021; one daughter, Brenda (Slater) Cooper; three brothers, Ed Binegar, Paul Binegar and Robert Binegar; three sisters, Florabelle Ives Hutchins, Charlotte Sampson and Eleanor Ruth Binegar in infancy; and both parents.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10 at Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Roger Newkirk officiating. Burial will follow in the Bainbridge Cemetery.
 
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10 at the funeral home.
 
A special thanks to the staff and all her friends at Courthouse Manor in Washington C.H. for the care and joy they brought to her during the final chapter of her life.
