Karen Sue Dotson, 79, of Lynchburg, passed away Friday, Sept. 30, 2022 at Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington.

She was born on April 22, 1943, in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Fred and Inez (Taylor) Pfister.

She was retired from the Merchants National Bank after 28 years of service. She loved cooking, and sports and was an animal lover. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother and was a huge supporter of all her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Janie (Chip) DeBoard of Lynchburg and Jay (Jody) Dotson of Hillsboro; three grandchildren, Alisha and Amber DeBoard and Cali Walker; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Joseph Dotson on Nov. 26, 2021; two sisters, Joan Fawley and Marilee Schatzmann; and one brother, Jerry Pfister.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg, with Pastor Michael Parks officiating. Burial will follow in the Lynchburg Masonic Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5 at the funeral home.
