Juanita M. Chaney, 85, passed away Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022.

She was born Sept. 2, 1937 in Pricetown, the daughter of the late Clarence and Dorothy (Hughes) Smith.  

Juanita chose to love everyone, and she was in return loved by everyone who knew her. She was blessed with numerous friends from all the churches that she called home, including Wilmington Church of Christ, Fairfield Church of Christ, Livonia Church of Christ in Michigan and most recently Pricetown Church of Christ.

Juanita held many jobs over her life, but a love of decorating cakes was her most cherished. She started decorating from her home and later became the bakery manager for Bob & Carl’s for 20 years.

She is survived by her children, Dave (Brenda) Atkin of Washington, Deborah (Rampsy) Nicholson of Maryland, Beckie (Mario) Tremblay of Florida and Linda Chaney and Paul (Sharon) Chaney, both of Lynchburg; 16 grandchildren, Emily, Tabitha, Noah, Catie, Maggie, Alyssa, Zak, Seth, Tim, Brian, Allen, Kimberly, Angie, Travis, Jenny and Sarah; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Judy McQuintty of North Carolina; nephews, Mike and Joe Martin; and a special brother and sister-in-law, Larry (Barbara) Atkin of Virginia.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin Atkin, and her second husband, Alva “Jack” Chaney; one son, David L. Chaney; and one daughter, Esther Lynn Adkins.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation will take place. A celebration of life service will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Queen City Hospice, 4605 Duke Drive, Suite 220, Mason, Ohio 45040.
