Janice Louise Purtee, 86, of Hillsboro, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022, at her home.

She was born on July 20, 1936, in Dayton, the daughter of the late Clarence Glenn and Cora Agnes (Dawson) Credit.

She was a member of Hillsboro Eagles Aeries 1161 Women’s Auxiliary and a 1955 graduate of New Vienna High School.

She is survived by her children, Stacey (Michael) Davis, Chris (Beth) Purtee, Steve Purtee all of Hillsboro, Sherry (Ed) Newman of East Monroe and Lisa (Eric) Mason of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Sarah Purtee, Hannah Purtee, Ashley Purtee, Wesley Purtee, Chandler Davis, Eddie Newman, Teal (Larry) McFarron, Emily Newman and Lisa Davis all of Hillsboro; great grandchildren, Alana Purtee, Rory Purtee, Ryder Purtee, Jaden Newman, Jay McFarron, Spencer Davis, Addison Mason and Spencer Mason all of Hillsboro; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Purtee on July 23, 2010; two grandchildren, Charlie and Jenny Davis; two sisters, Harriet and Lois; two brothers, Richard and Harold. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29 at Gilboa Cemetery near New Petersburg, with Pastor Clay Self officiating.

The Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro is serving the family.
