James L. "Jim" Williams, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and esteemed member of the Hillsboro community, passed away peacefully on Feb. 25, 2026 at the age of 79.
Born Feb. 20, 1947 in Hamilton, Jim dedicated his life to nurturing the talents of others through music and steadfast service to his church and community.
As a passionate band director, Jim inspired countless students during his 18 years at Hillsboro and Leesburg schools and was a cherished member of the Southern State Community Band for 15 years, sharing his love of music with those around him. His commitment to education and the arts touched the hearts of many, and his legacy will live on through the lives he influenced. Beyond his role in education, Jim was a devoted member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ, where he contributed over 50 years as treasurer and Bible school teacher. His faith and community involvement were a testament to his character, and he was known for his unwavering kindness, humor and support to all who knew him.
In addition to his contributions to music and his church community, Jim had a successful career as a Lead Sorter at ABX, where he worked diligently for 22 years. His strong work ethic and determination were evident in all aspects of his life.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Marsha (Roth) Williams; his daughters, Michele Williams, Rebekah (Bill) Olliges and Elizabeth (Aaron) Crabtree; grandchildren, Cameron (Tina Isaacs) Olliges, Christian (Morgan) Olliges, Caleb Olliges, Ben Crabtree and David Crabtree and sister, Linda (Harold) Colwell. He leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication, knitting together family and friends through shared memories and musical melodies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Doris (Root) Williams; and his in-laws, John and Sylvia Roth.
A celebration of Jim's remarkable life will be held Saturday, March 21 at 11 a.m. at the Hillsboro Church of Christ, 155 W. Walnut St., Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
