James A. Byrd

James A. Byrd, 83, of Fairfield Township, Ohio, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.  
 
He was born Jan. 2, 1943 in Greenville, Ohio, the son of the late James L. Byrd and Elizabeth K. Schmalenberger Byrd.

Jim was a member of Center Pointe Christian Church.
 
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Carolyn K. Byrd, whom he married Aug. 22, 1965; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and David Amick; and two grandchildren, Will Amick and Ella Amick.
 
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Teresa Griffith.
 
Services will be held at Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, 138 E. Main St. Hillsboro, Monday, June 1 at  1 p.m. with Pastor Shawn Spradling officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery, Hillsboro.
 
Friends will be received at Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home Monday, June 1, 2026, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.
 
Contributions in Jim's memory may be made to the Center Pointe Christian Church, 5962 Hamilton Mason Rd., Liberty Twp., Ohio 45011.
