Gregory A. Zimmerman, 69, of Hillsboro, passed away Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022.
He was born Jan. 5, 1953, in Hillsboro, the son of the late Imogene (Zimmerman) Nelson and John T. Curtis Jr.
Greg graduated in 1971 from Hillsboro High School, then left to proudly serve his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Throughout his career, Greg worked in construction, in addition to working for the Hillsboro City Water and Street Department for over 10 years. Greg was a member of the Center Christian Church in Jeffersonville, the Chillicothe AMVETS Post 4, Chillicothe VFW Post 108 and the Chillicothe American Legion Post 62. He enjoyed fishing, volunteering his time to serve other veterans and was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends. He will be greatly missed.
Greg is survived by his daughter, Teisha (Devin) Robinson of Charlotte, N.C.; two grandchildren, Creed Robinson and Kingston Robinson; siblings, Randy Zimmerman of Hillsboro, Yvette Zimmerman of Lewisville, Texas, Leslie (Rosita) Curtis of Hillsboro, Lonnie (Maria) Curtis of Hillsboro, Lee (Renee) Curtis of Wilmington, Lawrence Curtis of Wilmington, Lenard Curtis of Wilmington, LaMoine Curtis of Wilmington, Lorraine Ware of Wilmington, Lisa (Michael) Rolark of Wilmington, Lizabeth Dent of Dearborn, Mich., Lynne (James) Dixon of Summerfield, Fla., Rosemary Captain of Hillsboro and Sandra (Clarence) Davis of Trotwood; and several nieces and nephews, including Michael Captain of Georgia, Stacy Johnson of North Carolina and Brandy Zimmerman of Georgia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Curtis; and Bertha Cousins, the beloved mother of his daughter.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the New Hope Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Funeral services will follow visitation Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022 at 1 p.m. at the church. Burial, with military honors presented by the Highland County Veteran Honor Guard, will follow services in the Hillsboro Cemetery. The Turner & Son Funeral Home is serving the family.
