Gladys Marie Martin
Gladys Marie Martin, 95, of the Buford community, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025 at Salyers Adult Group Home in Hillsboro.
She was born May 29, 1930, in Ash Ridge, the daughter of the late Gerald and Ruth (Wohleber) Ellis.
Gladys devoted much of her life to hard work and service to others. She was employed as a cashier for both the SS Kresge Company and Kmart, where she worked for 17 years. Beyond her professional life, Gladys was an active member of her community. She was a faithful member of the Buford Church of Christ, a member of the Buford Homemakers, and enjoyed many years of fellowship and travel with the Good Sam Camping Club of Ohio. When she was younger, she attended the Lutheran Church in Arnheim with her parents.
She is survived by her loving children, Linda Moberly of Buford, Roger (Carolyn) Martin of Danville,; and Sharon (Daryl) Hibbs of Buford. Gladys was blessed with seven grandchildren, Lynette Knisley, Deanna (Jacob) Zink, Derek (Brandi) Moberly, Brian (Melissa) Martin, Shanda (Matt) Condo, Bridget (Chris) Morris and Bronson (Rachelle) Hibbs; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren (with another on the way), who brought her great joy. She is also survived by two sisters, Eileen Stewart of Jamestown and Shirley Slack of Georgetown; and a sister-in-law, Betty Sue Ellis of Xenia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glenn David Martin, who passed away in 2006; a brother, John Ellis; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marlene and Floyd Puckett, Velma and Lowell Woods, Verda and Don Hollingsworth; a son-in-law, Ronnie Moberly; and a brother-in-law, Cliff Stewart.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15 at the Buford Church of Christ, with burial to follow in the Buford Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Buford Church of Christ or the Danville Church of Christ in memory of Gladys.
