Dr. Thomas S. Henry

Dr. Thomas S. Henry, of Shawnee, Okla., passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025. He was 83. 

Tom was born Dec. 22, 1941, in Hillsboro, Ohio, the son of Harold L. Henry and Susan J. (Sams) Henry.

Tom was a podiatrist and a member of the Oklahoma Podiatric Medical Association (OKPMA). He loved being outdoors and was known for tanning his own hides and making his own guns. He was a member of the Cross Timbers Muzzleloading Club. Tom was also a member of the Lion’s Club, the Jaycees and the Pottawatomie County Historical Society, where he served many years as the treasurer.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Susan Henry; his wife, Phyllis J. Henry; grandsons, Thomas S. Henry, III and William Tyler Brown; and son-in-law, Michael Harris.

Survivors include his daughter, Karen Harris of Shawnee, Okla.; a son, Thomas Henry, II and wife, Ellen; daughter, Suzanne Wyatt; a sister, Dr. Jane Applegate-Belzer and husband, Sheldon Belzer; grandchildren, Laura Flynn, Susan Huerta and husband, Adam, Elizabeth Harris, Emily Harris, Natalie Henry, Sarah Henry, Anthony Brown and wife, JoBeth, and Dalton Brown and wife, Destiny; great-grandchildren, Aiden Harris, Michael Webb, Nick Cook, Leona Flynn, Nancy Flynn, Caleb Flynn, River Huerta, Adrian Quintos, Mazie Henry, Brielle Waldrop, Weston Waldrop, Austin Brown, Emma Brown, Callie Brown, Daxton Brown, Claire Brown, and William Brown; as well as his beloved dog, Winter “Girl” Henry. He is also survived by his St. Paul's United Methodist Church family; and several cousins, including Frank and Becky Hedges and their family.

A memorial ceremony for Tom will be held on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Shawnee, Okla. with Pastor Desi Sharp Brumit officiating.
