Delmar L. Ferguson Sr., 89, of Hillsboro, passed away Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022 at Eagle Creek Nursing Center in West Union.

He was born Jan. 16, 1933 in New Market, the son of the late Martin Luther and Elsie (Whistler) Ferguson.

He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a contractor and retired from Champion Bridge Company after 44 years of service. He was an avid Cincinnati Bengals, Cincinnati Reds and OSU Buckeyes fan. He served on the Highland County Sr. Fair Board and was a 4-H adviser for many years.

He is survived by his wife, June (Walker) Ferguson, whom he married April 29, 1989; children, Cindy (Rick) Butts of Texas, Delmar L. (Kim) Ferguson Jr. of New Vienna, Anthony (Kelly) Salsgiver of South Charleston and Andrea Newberry of Logan; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Sue Ferguson of Columbus, Linda L. Ferguson of Hillsboro and Linda Ferguson of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Hugh, Donald, Bill, Bob and Martin Ferguson; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022 at 1 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Dr. Jon Partlow officiating. Burial will follow in the New Market Baptist Cemetery with military rites to be accorded by the Highland County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends Thursday from 11 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.
