Deanna "Dee" West

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Deanna "Dee" West, who left this world on Aug. 18, 2026, at the age of 81.

Born on June 22, 1945, Deanna devoted her life to her family and the fields she so lovingly tended in Hillsboro.

A proud farmer and a cherished member of the local community, she nurtured the land much like she nurtured those around her-with abundance, care, and love.

Deanna was not only a dedicated wife and mother but also a deeply committed member of the Hillsboro First Presbyterian Church. Her faith guided her actions and inspired those she met, fostering a sense of togetherness and warmth wherever she went. Known for her tireless work ethic and unwavering spirit, she leaves behind a legacy of resilience and compassion.

Deanna is survived by her beloved husband, Sam West; their children, Paul (Missy) West and Colarina "Sis" (Scott) Amos; grandchildren, Alexis and Hanna West, Alyssa, Austin and Alex Cline; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The love they shared will forever resonate in the hearts of family and friends alike.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents, E.L. "Lee" and Lucy (Turvy) Hodson; a son, Richard West; a brother, David Hodson; and a sister, Nona Harrison.

Celebrations of Deanna's life will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29 at the Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the Thompson Funeral Home.

Deanna West's spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched, reminding us all to celebrate life, love, and the beauty of the world around us.
