David M. Williams, 91, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2022 at Otterbein Senior Life Community Center in Lebanon.
He was born Sept. 16, 1931 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Charles Addison Williams and Ruth Mae (Reno) Williams.
David was a 1949 graduate of Hillsboro High School. He grew up on a farm and was engaged in farming in his early life. He served in the National Guard and the U.S. Army. On May 10, 1952, David was united in marriage to Lois Anne (Snider) Williams. He retired from the Ohio Department of Highways after many years of service and was a real estate associate. David was a longtime faithful member of the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church and Chancel Choir, serving the Lord and his church in numerous capacities down through many decades. He was a very devoted, loving, and beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved camping, swimming and walking the track at the YMCA, and many wonderful travels with his wife and his family.
Surviving is his wife, Lois Anne Williams; son, Wayne A. (Sue) Williams; daughter, Karen E. (Tony) Haley; three grandchildren, Heather (Jen) Ziebol-Williams, Holli (Marvin) Abrinica and Karianne Marie (Chris) Percell; and eight great-grandchildren, Abigail Tackett, Joshua Tackett, William Tackett, Benjamin Tackett, Gabriel Tackett, Isabel Abrinica, Alexandria Abrinica and Jonah Percell. Also surviving is a brother, Phillip Williams; four sisters-in-law, Beverly Williams, Eleanor Williams, Shirley Williams and Rachelle Bricker; many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by an infant brother, Jack Williams; brothers, Charles, Eugene, Robert and Richard Williams; and a sister, Karol D. Randle.
Private graveside services were held at Hillsboro Cemetery, Thursday, Dec. 29 with the Rev. Derek Russell officiating. The Highland County Honor Guard conducted full military honors.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Hillsboro Global Methodist Church, 133 E. Walnut St., to celebrate the life of David M. Williams. Following the service, a luncheon will be served.
The Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, Hillsboro, is serving the family.
