David Emerson Grover, 71, passed away Sunday, March 16.

He was born Feb. 19, 1954 in Greenfield, to the late Cecil and Mae (Douglas) Grover, and was raised on a farm near Rocky Fork Lake. 

He graduated from Edward Lee McClain High School in 1972 and attended Wilmington College and Southern State Community College. He worked with his father at the Florea Real Estate Office.

David lived a life of community service. He was a member of the Liberty Lions Club, serving as a past president. For many years, he headed up their annual candy sale, parked cars at the Highland County Fair, and taught the Leo Club at Hillsboro High School. He was a longtime member of the Hillsboro Global Methodist Church, where he operated the audio visual equipment for each service and served in many positions of leadership. Prior to moving to Hillsboro he attended the Rainsboro United Methodist Church.
David was a fan of Hillsboro High School sports and was in attendance at almost every event. He announced the boys' basketball games and worked the gate at the football games. He also announced the girls' basketball games at Southern State Community College.

David is survived by his brothers, Philip (Mary) Grover of Washington C.H. and Larry (Elanna) Grover of Circleville; nieces, Cindi Grover, Cathy (Bryon) Ely, Carole (Vic) Pontious and Janette (Michael) Emery; nephews, Brian (Lori) Cassner and Matthew Grover; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, L. Jean Grover Bauman and Janet Mae Grover.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Rob and Michelle Everman for the loving care they gave to David during his final illness.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 22 at Thompson's Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Marshall cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.

Donations may be made to the Hillsboro Global Methodist Church or to the Liberty Lions Club.

Dear Phil and Grover family ; If there ever was a public citizen, it was Dave. He was always involved,. full of information and very dependable. Ad these qualities to his natural curiosity and you have a friend to rely upon. Dave will be missed by the Hillsboro community. It was a pleasure to have been a part of Daves life at Tri-County and Southern State Colleg e I can just imagine His questions. God will give your family comfort in your loss Blessings to all. from Skip and family.
