Christa J. Abbott, 89, of Hillsboro, passed away and went to be with the Lord on April 29, 2025. 

She was born July 11, 1935 in Bremerhaven, Germany, the daughter of the late Fritz Warneke and Meta Heins Warneke. 

Christa was a member of the Hillsboro Global Methodist Church, and a member of Emblem Club 277. Christa married her husband, Lieutenant Joseph H. Abbott, in Bremerhaven in 1956 and came the same year to the United States. In 1959, Christa became a naturalized citizen. With Joe being in the United States Air Force, the family moved around to various states and even to Japan. Her husband passed away in 1962. 

Surviving are daughter, Linda Teague of Miamisburg; and daughter and son in-law Katy and Steve Zink of Washington Court House. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Matt, Brad, Joe and Lauren and families, Matthew, Meg, Hayden and Savannah Zink of Tennessee; Bradley, Chelsie, Clara, Graham and Owen Zink of Kentucky; Joseph and Jennifer Teague of Michigan; and Lauren, Clem and Noah Chang of Illinois. 

She had one brother, Wilfried Warneke and wife, Wilma Warneke, of Bremerhaven, who both preceded her in death, along with many cousins still in Germany. 

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Saturday, May 10 at the Hillsboro Global Methodist Church, 133 E. Walnut St., Hillsboro. A memorial service will take place following visitation at the church. Burial will take place at a later date in the Arlington National Cemetery with her beloved husband.
