Charles W. Merrick

Charles W. Merrick, 89 of New Vienna, passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 21, 2026 at his home.  

He was born Feb. 20, 1937 in Pulaski County, Ky., the son of the late Willie and Elizabeth Ellen (Jones) Merrick.

Mr. Merrick is survived by his daughter, Angela Merrick (John Boyd) Cloud; three grandsons, Jason (Jill) Cloud, Joshua (Crystal) Cloud and Joseph (Kelsey) Cloud; seven great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Cloud, Rowen Cloud, Olivia Cloud, Emma Cloud, Ellie Cloud, Jeffrey Cloud and Joby Charles Cloud; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.  

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda (Andrews) Merrick, who passed away Feb. 1, 2021; and his son, Robert Merrick. He was the last surviving member of his family, so all his siblings, June Merrick Mackling, Jay Merrick, Garvin Merrick, Don Merrick,  Bill Merrick, Christine Merrick Rowley and Marlin Merrick, also preceded him in death, as well as brothers-in-law Jim Pierson and Terry Rohrer.  

Visitation will be held from noon until 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24 at the New Vienna Community Church, 412 West Street, New Vienna. The funeral service will immediately follow visitation at 1 p.m. Pastor Dan Mayo will officiate. Burial will follow in the Clinton Memory Gardens.  

Memorial contributions may be made to the New Vienna Community Church, 412 West Street, New Vienna, Ohio 45159.
