Charles “Chuck” Richard Barrett

Charles “Chuck” Richard Barrett, 87, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025.

He was born the son of the late Wilbur Barrett and Vivian Bollinger Barrett on October 27, 1937 in Delaware, Ohio.

Chuck was a 1955 graduate of North High School in Columbus and after graduation went on to attend college at The Ohio State University. Chuck was a man of few words, but many talents. He was very talented at building models; specifically trains, airplanes, boats, and ships. At one point, his home was filled with a 500-square-foot model train display that he and his wife designed and brought to life. His knack for building and design led him to a great career as a drafting engineer for Dualite Sign Company, in Williamsburg, Ohio.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Constance “Connie” Marie Spaulding Barrett, whom he married in 1980; their children, Carol Sue Barrett Moore of Florence, Ky., William “Bill” Charles (Lori) Barrett of North Carolina, Lance Garrett (Toni) Marshall of Soldotna, Alaska, Kelly Gene (Barb) Barrett of Williamsburg and Donna Renee (Les) Freehling of Belfast; grandchildren, Catherine Frommeyer, Zane Barrett, Craig Barrett, Brenda Barrett, Kyle Barrett, Calvin Barrett, Erika Freehling, Noah Freehling, Daniel Freehling; great-grandchildren, Annabelle and Mirabelle Barrett; sister, Sue Lynn (Bill) Brown of Coshocton; and brother-in-law, Ron Spaulding of Bangkok, Thailand.

In keeping with Chuck’s wishes, he will be cremated and a time for friends and family to gather will take place from 1-3 p.m. May 2 at Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. At 2 p.m. an opportunity for anyone to share memories and stories will be offered.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Chuck’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105 or Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, P.O. Box 5202, Cincinnati, Ohio 45201-5202.
