Arthur M. Gale, 77, of Hillsboro, passed away Monday, Oct. 10, 2022 at the Hospice of Hope Inpatient Center in Seaman.

He was born Nov. 13, 1944 in St. John’s, New Brunswick, Canada, the son of the late Morris and Margaret Sawyer Gale.

Art was an electrician and had worked for 25 years in the maintenance department for Hobart Corporation. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of the American Legion Post 129 and had been a volunteer fireman for both Old Greenwich Connecticut Fire Department and the Hillsboro Fire Department. He was also a member of the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church and had been a driver for FRS in Hillsboro.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Hedges Gale, whom he had married Nov. 18, 1967; three children, Kristine (Philip) Leisure of West Chester, Kevin (Laura) Gale of West Chester and Jeremy Gale of Hillsboro; and seven grandchildren, Abigail, Kyle and Alexandra Leisure and Jacob, Veronica, Sydney and Serena Gale.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Judith Travis.

Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Hillsboro Cemetery. The Highland County Veterans Honor Guard will present military honors. There will be no visitation.
