Alberta Preston

Alberta Preston, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, at the age of 96. 

Born on Aug. 24, 1928, in Concord, Ky., Alberta spent her later years in Seaman, Ohio, where she became a cherished member of the community. 

Alberta's life was dedicated to her family. She was a proud housewife, nurturing and supporting her loved ones with unwavering devotion. Her warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone she met. A devoted member of the Peebles Baptist Church and regular attendee at the Bible Baptist Church, Alberta's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She found joy in worship and in sharing her love for singing, brightening the lives of many with her melodies.

Alberta is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Clifford) Gross. She was a loving grandmother to Jeffery Gross, Matthew (Patricia Shyanna) Gross and Michael Smith, as well as a cherished great-grandmother to Abigail and Aidan Gross, niece, Patricia Simpson and nephews, Randle Bolender and Rodger Bolender.

Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Ella (Highfield) Stone; husband, Joe Jack Preston; and twin sister, Roberta Bolender.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Alberta's remarkable life. Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, July 28 at the Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at New Market Baptist Cemetery.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of services on Monday at the Thompson Funeral Home.
Family request donations be made to the Bible Believers Baptist Church.

Alberta Preston will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her loving spirit, her joyous songs, and the legacy of love she leaves behind. May she rest in peace, celebrated in the hearts of many.
