Wilmington Post investigating a three-vehicle fatal crash in Clinton County

WILMINGTON - The Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a three-vehicle fatal crash. The crash occurred today, September 2, at approximately 6:27 a.m., on state Route 73 near the intersection of Williams Road in Chester Township, Clinton County.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2020 Hino XJC720, operated by Abdullatif Hlal, 32, West Chester, and a 2002 Ford F-250, operated by Phillip Solomon, 51, South Lebanon, were traveling east on state Route 73. The Ford was stopped to make a left turn onto Williams Road. A 2022 Ford Edge, operated by Jason Sallee, 41, Wilmington, was traveling west on state Route 73.

The Hino swerved to the left to avoid striking the stopped F-250 and crossed the centerline into the westbound lane of state Route 73. The Hino struck the Edge head-on. After contact, the Edge traveled off the right side of the roadway.

Sallee succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.

Hlal was transported by ground ambulance to Clinton Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Solomon was not injured from the crash.

The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Wilmington Fire Department & EMS, Chester Township Fire Department & EMS, Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Clinton County Coroner’s Office, Case Towing and Ohio Department of Transportation.
