Washington Court House man charged with kidnapping
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday the arrest of Earl Wesley Nixon II, 57, of Washington Court House, on charges of kidnapping, strangulation and aggravated assault.
The charges stemmed from an incident that is alleged to have occurred Jan. 6 on U.S. #22 West in Union Township.
According to Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, the victim reported that during the overnight hours of Jan. 5 into the early morning hours of Jan. 6, while at the incident location, the suspect, identified as Nixon, allegedly refused to allow the reported victim to depart the residence. It is alleged that Nixon held the reported victim at gunpoint and physically assaulted the reported victim while the reported victim was attempting to gather personal belongings and leave the home.
After several hours, the reported victim departed the residence and later contacted the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office to report the incident. Following an interview with the reported victim, deputies issued multiple arrest warrants for Mr. Nixon and subsequently executed a search warrant for his residence.
During the execution of the search warrant, Mr. Nixon was taken into custody without incident, and deputies collected articles of evidence allegedly believed to be related to the reported incident.
Nixon is currently being held on bond stemming from the above felony charges as the investigation continues and is presented to the Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney’s office for their review.
