Walmart donates to Meals on Wheels

The number of area residents who benefit from the delivery of Meals on Wheels through the Highland County Community Action Organization has increased, thanks to a grant from the Walmart Foundation.
The HCCAO said Walmart donated a $15,000 matching grant to benefit Meals on Wheels, and was put toward the purchase of a new vehicle that can transport hot and cold food items.
"We could not have done this without the Walmart grant," said Christi Hauke, director of emergency services at HCCAO.
"We were able to take every single person off the waiting list," said Paula Vaugh, executive assistant at HCCAO. "Some people had been on the waiting list for years. "This vehicle will be replacing one we had with high mileage," which brings the fleet total to three at the organization.
The truck was purchased through Jerry Haag Motors in Hillsboro and Hot Shot Delivery Concepts customized the vehicle with the hold and cold food transport spaces.
