Update:Crews working to repair roads, reopen routes following weekend storm

Additional routes have been reopened today, May 3; however, crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9 facilities will be working throughout much of the week to repair and clean damaged pavement, shoulders, ditches and culverts.
In Lawrence County, both state Route 93 and state Route 141 have been reopened to traffic this afternoon. In addition, state Route 73 in both Adams and Scioto counties is now open to traffic, as well as S.R. 139 at White Gravel Road and S.R. 335 at Swauger Valley Road in Scioto County. S.R. 335 remains closed, however, at the 6.0-mile marker near Wheeler’s Mill.
Other closures that remain in effect in the District 9 region include:
• State Route 505 at U.S. 52 and Higginsport in Brown County;
• State Route 124 at Idaho, between S.R. 32 and S.R. 772, in Pike County;
• State Route 217, from east of Linnville to west of S.R. 378, in Lawrence County;
• State Route 243, east of C.R. 36 in Lawrence County;
• State Route 650 at Little Pine Creek Road in Lawrence County;
• State Route 522, between the intersections of C.R. 10 (Old 522) in Lawrence County; and
• State Route 775, between C.R. 40 and C.R. 171, in Lawrence County.
Along with these closures, the emergency flood exit from C.R. 22 (Lawrence Street) to U.S. Route 52 in Lawrence County has been opened to traffic. Motorists are advised to exercise additional caution where traffic will be entering the highway between Deep Cut Road and the state Route 93 exit at Ironton.
While the above-listed closures will remain effect until further notice, motorists must follow posted detours or seek alternate routes where no detour has been posted. They are also reminded that crossing any route which has been closed is strictly prohibited, and motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution when crossing any route which remains open but where standing water may be present.

ODOT had released the following information the morning this past weekend: Maintenance crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation's District 9 facilities continue working to repair roads and restore traffic following this weekend's heavy storms; however, many routes remain closed due to high water and washouts. The following is a county-by-county update of closures and restrictions:
In Adams County, state Route 41, south of Bentonville, and state routes 378 and 781 at Wamsley have been reopened; however, state Route 73 is also closed between S.R. 32 and the Scioto County line, where there have been numerous high water areas and washouts.
In Brown County, state Route 505 is closed at its junction with U.S. Route 52 at Higginsport due to a slip that occurred late Sunday. The area is being assessed today to determine the type of repair that will be required; however, the route will remained closed until further notice, and motorists will be detoured via U.S. 52, S.R. 133 and S.R. 125 in Clermont County.
In Lawrence County, most routes have been damaged by washouts, and crews are working to restore berm and shoulder and clear mud, tree limbs and other debris; traffic will be maintained in one lane with flaggers as crews move clean-up operations throughout the county. In addition, the following routes remain closed today:
- State Route 93, between Pedro and S.R. 373;
- State Route 141 at S.R. 775 and north of Wilgus;
- State Route 217, from east of the Linnville Bridge to west of S.R. 378;
- State Route 243, east of C.R. 36;
- State Route 650 at Little Pine Creek Road;
- State Route 522; and
- State Route 775, between C.R. 40 and C.R. 171.
Along with these closures, the emergency flood exit from C.R. 22 (Lawrence Street) to U.S. Route 52 in Lawrence County has been open to traffic. Motorists are advised to exercise additional caution where traffic will be entering the highway between Deep Cut Road and the state Route 93 exit at Ironton.
In Pike County, state Route 124 remains closed at Idaho, between S.R. 32 and S.R. 772, due to high water; however, the route is open near Latham. Crews are also addressing numerous berm washouts and potholes that resulted from the weekend's storms.
In Scioto County, U.S. 52 is now open west of Friendship, S.R. 772 is open at Rarden, and S.R. 140 is open at South Webster; however, crews are addressing these area where guardrail and the shoulder have been washed out and debris remains along the pavement and shoulder.
Other closures in Scioto County remain in effect due to high water on the following routes:
- State Route 73, from the Adams County line through the village of Rarden and continuing to Henley;
- State Route 139 near White Gravel Road and continuing through to the Jackson County line;
- State Route 335 just north of Sciotoville and the Portsmouth corporation limit, continuing through to Wheeler's Mill.
Scioto County maintenance crews are also working to restore the south end of S.R. 335 near Swauger Valley Road at Sciotoville, where a mud and rock slide occurred late Sunday. This section of the roadway is anticipated to be cleared and reopened to traffic by this evening.
In Highland, Jackson and Ross counties, all routes are open, and crews will be clearing debris from roads, ditch lines and culverts as needed, as well as repairing berm along numerous routes. Traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers when crews are at work.
