Supreme Court of Ohio to host 2026 Black History Month event

Every February, the Supreme Court of Ohio hosts a special event for Black History Month. This year’s program, titled “A Century of Black History Commemorations,” will examine how Black history has been celebrated and studied over the past 100 years.

The Court’s celebration will highlight the achievements of notable Black Ohioans while inspiring future generations of leaders. The annual Black History Month celebration is on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 1 p.m.

Tammy R. Bennett, executive director of the Law and Leadership Institute, will serve as the featured keynote speaker. With more than two decades of experience as an employment attorney and educator, Bennett has held leadership roles at Dinsmore & Shohl and Macy’s and serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Law.

The Supreme Court of Ohio’s Black History Month celebration is part of its civic education initiatives to provide resources and programming to the public.

This program is free and open to the public, and guests are asked to RSVP to attend in-person at the Moyer Judicial Center. The event will also be live-streamed on the Court’s webpage and Facebook page.

As part of the semiquincentennial celebration, the Supreme Court of Ohio is proud to present “The Story of America.” This yearlong initiative highlights significant historical events through digital content, events, and displays. The goal is to spark curiosity, enhance civic literacy, and honor key moments in American and Ohio history. Learn more at supremecourt.ohio.gov/AM250
