Severe weather hits area

Severe thunderstorms rolled through the area Wednesday morning and into the afternoon, dropping an inch of rain in Highland County.

According to Myron Padgett, of the National Weather Service in Wilmington, approximately and inch of rain has fallen in the area in the past 24 hours. 

Though the rain has lessened in the afternoon, Padgett said "There is still a small chance of showers, scattered showers and storms this evening and into tomorrow."

The low this evening is expected to be around 50 degrees, with the high on Wednesday in the 80s.
