Tornados and thunderstorms that swept through the Midwest Saturday night and Sunday morning killed at least five people in northern Ohio and destroyed 50 homes, The Associated Press reported June 6.
A National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration satellite image taken Sunday, June 6 at 1:45 a.m. EDT indicated a line of clouds from the Plains through the Upper Midwest associated with a cold front that is producing significant rain in the area. Tornado watches were throughout the Buckeye State, as a result.
In Wood County, Ohio, a person outside the heavily damaged Lake Township police department was killed as was a motorist on state Route 795, the AP reported.
Authorities were still searching through homes on Sunday for possible storm victims.
For Highland County, the severe storm watches have expired. The rest of Sunday is expected to be partly sunny, with a high near 75. Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 55. On Monday, the National Weather Service predicts mostly sunny skies, with a high near 74 and a low around 52.
