COLUMBUS — Today, U.S. Sen. Jon Husted announced he has secured the most sheriff endorsements in Ohio history.
The historic show of support from 75 law enforcement leaders across the state underscores Husted’s long-standing commitment to public safety, law enforcement, and the rule of law.
Throughout his service, Husted has worked closely with Ohio’s sheriffs to support first responders and ensure they have the resources needed to protect Ohio families. As Lieutenant Governor, Husted led efforts to invest more than $274 million in law enforcement across Ohio, supporting body cameras, training and officer wellness programs. He also led the creation of a statewide, online law enforcement recruitment hub to connect agencies with potential recruits and address ongoing staffing shortages.
“I’m honored to have the support of sheriffs across Ohio who put their lives on the line to protect our communities and keep families safe,” said Husted. “They’re on the front lines of fighting crime, and they know I’ve always had their backs. I support them, and they support me – and together, we’ll keep Ohio safe.”
Notably, Husted’s support crosses party lines. He has earned the endorsement of Democrat Guernsey County Sheriff Jeffrey Paden and secured a clean sweep of Independent sheriffs, including Jefferson County’s Fred Abdalla Jr., Monroe County’s Derek Norman and Tuscarawas County’s Orvis Campbell. Additionally, Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn, who endorsed Sherrod Brown last cycle, is now firmly behind Jon Husted.
“Jon Husted has proven he will stand up for law enforcement,” said Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn. “In this race, he’s earned my support. I’ve seen his leadership, and I’m confident he will continue to support those of us working to keep our communities safe.”
“Jon Husted has been an ally to law enforcement when others have turned their backs,” said Van Wert County Sheriff Thomas Riggenbach. “He has always stood with those of us on the front lines, making sure we have the resources and support we need to do our jobs. That’s why he’s earned the support of a historic number of sheriffs across Ohio.”
