Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will undertake a project on County Road 79 (Selph Road) that will require its closure early next month.
According to ODOT District 9 Deputy Director James Brushart, the route is scheduled to be closed Tuesday, March 2, at its junction with state Route 138 for a six-month bridge replacement project.
"As we prepare to start the 2010 construction season, ODOT is delivering on time, on budget, and at the highest level of quality, the largest construction program in Ohio history - 30 percent larger than at any other time," said Brushart. "It will be a busy year for the district, as well as the entire department, and we look forward to working with our partners at the Highland County Engineer¹s Office as we build and preserve our transportation infrastructure."
Crews from DGM, Inc. of Beaver, Ohio, will be replacing a deteriorated structure located over Clear Creek, approximately one-tenth of a mile off state Route 138, just east of Hillsboro. The project includes replacing the deficient deck, beams and wearing surface, as well as repairing the approaches.
DGM was awarded a contract in the amount of $755,806.80 to complete the project. While the route is closed, motorists will be detoured by way of Selph Road and U.S. 62, and the entire project is scheduled to be completed by August 31, 2010.
